WE I.D. If you look like you are under 21, we will ask to see your I.D. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. If you are under the age of 21, you must be accompanied by a parent or guardian (have guadianship papers available for proof).

Unscrupulous media has made this neccessary. At gun shows, unscrupulous media undercover operatives have set-up dealers and also people who have just come to the show to sell or trade a handgun. At a Nashville, TN gun show, two adult males and one 20 year old female stopped at an exhibitors table where one of the men either traded or bought a shotgun. Harmless enough. Then the girl wanted to buy the handgun and the exhibitor either traded or sold her the handgun. This event was caught on video. I want to prevent it from happening at my show. Last summer, we had a situation similar to this that could have happened. Two young men attended our show with a female. Our officers saw the I.D. of one young man and the young woman and they were in their early 20's but the other young man was barely 20. We denied the 20 year old male entry and the other two said they would not attend without him. They left after telling our security officer how stupid and unfair they thought our rules were and creating a small scene. One of the people standing in line to enter the gun show followed them to their car and witnessed the woman taking a very small video camcorder out of her handbag and one of the men had a small tape recorder that they placed in the trunk of their car. He questioned them and they replied that it was none of his business. They were writing a paper on gun shows and could not see the harm in attending a gun show for educational reasons. He also found out that they were with the newspaper at their college. I believe that we dodged the bullet.

For those of you who can not or will not understand my rules, I am truly sorry for you. You do not understand the liabilities of operating a special event. A Promoter must be prepared for eventualities and put safeguards in place to guard against them. Most people have understood this rule without having to ask.
